Mission Statement

Chicago’s Beloved: A relational community that seeks to reaffirm the belovedness of Chicago’s hurting, lonely, and displaced by reaching out in friendship to foster collective transformation in the hopes of breaking barriers within ourselves, with others, and with God. (Pray for us)

This Week’s Verse

And He was saying to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. Go; behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves.

Luke 10:2-3

A little bit-o-news

Lately we’ve been having a time of need within Chicago’s Beloved (lovingly called CB). Many students that were once a part of the ministry have moved on.

(Graduated and moved off to all ends of the globe… I’m not kidding either… They’re seriously all over the place sharing love, sarcasm, underwater basket weaving, preaching, movie-making, hiking, um… What was I talking about again?! Oh yeah! They’re gone…)

The noticeable result of this being that our numbers at CB have gone WAY down. This is where this weeks verse comes into play. If you’re not able to come down, up, around, through, or over to Chicago to help us in our never ending quest to show the love of Christ to the people on the streets (not just the repudiated either), Please take a couple minutes to “Beseech the Lord of the harvest” for us. God is great and always faithful.

If you have never been to CB before, I would HIGHLY recommend going… Even just once… (We really like bearded people… Even the ladies!) Go with an open heart and a willingness to step out of your comfort zone. You’ll not regret it. While this is called a ministry, Please understand that we have always and will always welcome people of all nationalities, religions, races, sports teams, elevations, socio-economic classes, heights, and um… yeah, you get my drift… We just want people who are willing to go and show true love to others regardless of their status.

Information:

WHO?!:

We’re a group of people who go into the streets of Chicago every Saturday to develop relationships, and show love to anyone who will listen. (Anyone at all… If they run we chase them, tie them down, and then they tend to listen… please note that this is said in jest. We do not condone the use of violent behavior to get people to listen to us.) However, we do end up meeting some very interesting and wonderful people.

WHAT?!:

You might have noticed that I’ve avoided using the description of “homeless” thus far. This is mainly because it doesn’t really describe the people we meet. Homeless means “Having no home”. Most of the people we serve are repudiated. They’re cast off and people refuse to acknowledge them. While we do meet many “Street People”, “Homeless”, and “Repudiated People”, we are open to sharing love to anyone and everyone. (By the way, did I mention that we REALLY love people!?!)

WHEN?!:

This group no longer meets. This site is for demo purposes only.

WHERE?!:

Inside the Southwest doors (first floor) of Ogilvie Transportation Center.

HOW AND WHY?!:

These are completely unnecessary questions. Run, jump, hop, skip, fly, boat, crawl, zip, zap, or carpool with someone (That’s the green thing to do!) to get there. If you need to be lined up with a ride or need more information on how to get there, to contact someone!
